'Eccleshall at Christmas' Market 2018

A true showcase of festive delights, ‘Eccleshall at Christmas’ will take place from Friday, 8 December to Saturday, December 9.

A first for the town, this seasonal festival will see a multitude of Eccleshall’s independent businesses come together to hold a Christmas market, and celebrate the individual retailers, professionals, eateries and pubs that make the town unique.

The festival will kick-off with the late night opening of over 30 businesses on the Friday evening, from 5.00pm  - 7.00pm. The market itself will then be open from 2.00pm - 7.00pm on the Saturday. Over 30 stalls dealing in a variety of wares -from crafts to confectionery and fashion to food- will be available for visitors to explore, and a range of family entertainment will be on offer.

The stalls - including those run by Katherine House Hospice and the local Scouts - will be set up at various locations on the High Street and Castle Street.

One of the organisers, Sarah Cunnion, of Alleati hair and beauty salon, said: “We wanted to be able to show people the best of Eccleshall’s businesses and all the great things we can offer to the local community and to visitors from further afield. Most importantly, we all wanted to join forces in doing this and help to create a really fun and festive atmosphere throughout the town.”

In the run up to the market day itself, the Eccleshall Festival of Trees will be running from Friday, December 1 to Saturday, December 9.Visitors to the town during that week are encouraged to partake in the ‘tree trail’ which will lead them on a fun festive hunt around the town’s businesses and give three people the chance to win a family Christmas hamper.

“Visitors just need to grab the tree trail map and follow it to each business or shop shown on it, looking for the ones displaying the special Christmas trees”, said Miss Cunnion. “For each tree you find on the map, you collect a sticker that the shop keeper gives to you. You then just need to put your completed map in the arcade post box and three lucky winners will be drawn on Sunday, December 10.”

Maps are available to purchase from Three Pillars Wine, Earth Selection, Alleati, and The Artisan.
